It's 4:51 in the morning. I've been awake since 4. I can't sleep. Sometimes I come up with brilliant ideas at this time and then I fall back asleep and forget things, so I'm writing this one down: I'm going to Over eaters Anonymous.
I might happen to be watching Ruby while I writing this, but this is still a great idea.
I've been to OA twice before and loved it. I'm not sure if I have ever written about it, but the two times that I have been were really great. I love hearing stories and everyone there is really positive.
Has anyone else out there been to OA? What was your experience? And what can you say to a person, like myself, who wants to go back, but is scared!

I have not been to OA, but I have heard some good things about it. A friend of mine with anorexia recovered using OA. The only thing to look out for that I know of, is that some of the groups are fanatical, but it sounds as if you have found a good meeting there.
If you do decide to go, I would love to read more about your experience there.
I've been, and I didn't like it. But I think it probably depends on who else is in the meeting you attend. When I tried it, I found it so depressing that, ironically, I picked up binge food on the way home every time. (I attended six meetings in order to make a real, honest try.) It might have been different at another meeting. Actually, I did try one other meeting in a different location, and I found the people there far less depressing, but unfortunately quite pushy. What I remember fondly from that meeting, which was a "speaker meeting," was how the speaker described going down the ice cream aisle at the grocery store as being like "visiting all my old lovers." Yeah, he gets it.
Best of luck with your return to OA! It's great that everyone there is so positive, hopefully you'll be able to channel that positive energy and use it to empower you on your journey!
OMFG you're back.
OMFG you're back.
Overeating is the new normal. Pick up "The End of Overeating" by David Kessler. It's not a diet book, it just explains why people eat so much nowadays. I don't have any relationship to the publisher or author, but the book answered SO many questions that I didn't even know to ask.
Overeating isn't a lack of discipline or any other sort of character flaw - it's a conditioned trait that the food companies have (probably unintentionally) inflicted on most Americans.
So glad you're back! How did you find OA?

I personally don't have eating problems, I just have few pounds to much. I saw lots of cases on TV shows that were helped by OA so I warmly recommend you to rejoin group, because they understand you the best and can really help you.

Hi Fatty McGee! Hope you were able to get some sleep, after all the great ideas. Many people benefit from groups like OA to get support and make friends with others going though the same challenges. Hope it works out for you :) all the best!
EAT!
We gluttons have normalized obesity for everyone!
Hey, nice blog you have here! Keep up the excellent work!
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

There are a million different OA meetings and the key to finding a good one is to go to about 10 different ones.
It is also important to remember that OA is different from FA (Food Addicts Anonymous) and you should go to OA.
It is fairly amazing. Some of the things are "higher power" focused, but I am a humanist and manage to make it work.
Good Luck!
