Wowzers

I did something that we've here on Fatty Mcblog have been pondering and also making fun of for years. I bought something from the maternity department.

Is this ok? I don't know. It fits, so that's a good thing.

But seriously, I bought something from the maternity department at Target. The only thing I can really see in the difference is that it says maternity on the tag, which of course I have quickly removed. Nothing would be worse than sitting down, taking off your cardigan and having your skinny friends see that you are, in fact, wearing a sweater meant for a 9 month pregnant woman.

Has anyone else ever done this? And, is this the last of me doing this?

It makes perfect sense to do so...Maybe the teams of maternity and fat should join forces.

And as a PS. I really want the jeans with the band.

I say if you like it and it fits, go for it!

Some of the maternity stuff at Target is really fricken' cute. So much so that even my thin, non-pregnant friends have contemplated buying it. I even have one friend who has purchased maternity clothes from Old Navy. So it's not necessarily a fat thing.

I am a new follower of your blog and love it. I think you are right: maternity and fat need to join forces! Really! Why is it so hard to make something fit and look cute.

When my daughter was pregnant I wanted to buy her some maternity pants at a mall maternity boutique, which I tried on with the little strap-on bumps for 5 & 9 month bellies. (She and I are similar sizes -- I buy her clothes by trying them on me all the time.)

I felt so silly at my advanced age that I apologized profusely, and the sales people assured me that many people bought their pants and they had no problem at all with me. So the only difference in your case is that Target doesn't have a lot of helpful reassuring sales people to tell you everyone does it.

HA! Just recently been there and done that myself. Accidentally - but it was disheartening to find that maternity pants fit me perfectly. They sure are comfy though :)

The cutest clothes in Target are the Liz Lange maternity stuff.

Enjoy! (just do Not buy anything with a bow above the tummy.

I am a heavy girl, and I also happen to have huge boobs, so i bought my bathing suit two years ina row in the maternity section! They are much more forgiving in the boob area and they have cute styles and nice coverage!

I once bought a maternity shirt from Target. It was too cute not too. I don't think there's a problem with doing it. If it fits (and is cute!), go for it.

The best clothes are in the maternity section. Usually the fat section at target has really bland, oversized and horribly shaped clothes. I bought this really cute top in the maternity section that you would never find it a fat section. Dont worry about it. As long as it looks good and doesnt draw attention to the stomach (like some maternity tops), then its ok.

eh, I bought a dress that I have worn for years and never wondered why the label was YUMMY MUMMY. It took like 2 years for it to dawn on me that it was a maternity dress.

When I first got married, I was 5'11" and anywhere between a size 28 to 32 and if I saw maternity clothes in those sizes on clearance, I'd snap them up. I was terrified of being over 300 pounds and pregnant and not being able to find clothes to wear. Fast forward a few years and I was cleaning out an old dresser and found a cute pair of turquoise capris with the 'band'. I tried them on for the heck of it (I'm not pregnant), amazingly comfortable. I was going to give them to good will right away and kept them and wore them all summer because with a tshirt over the top, you can't see the band and they were totally comfortable. I say go for it.
