The Fat Girl Flea Market!!!

We here at Fatty McB spend a good deal of time complaining and whining about the lack of selection and availability of fat girl clothes. But now, in the spirit of sharing, we present to you the greatest event New York City has to offer in July: The Fat Girl Flea Market. For two days in lower Manhattan fat girls have a chance to buy clothes (both new and used) at very reasonable prices. Sure, we wish this was a permanent thing, and that fat girls had more opportunity to buy clothes year round at a wider range of stores with varying styles and longer shirts, but this is still an awesome idea. And while I have technically never been to the Fat Girl Flea Market, I am fascinated with the idea and I will make the utmost effort to attend this year, as should you all. Next step: Barney's warehouse sale plus size edition! Come one, come all. It's on!

Wah! The downside of living in London on a craptastic wage. I sooooo wish I could afford to jump on a plane and go. Have a fab time, ladies!

Looks like it would be awesome! I am no where near NY, nor would I be able to hop on a plane, but our local Value Village has a pretty good plus size selection. I wonder if that just means we have a lot of fat people in our city....

Gaaaaaaaaah. Of course this had to happen when I'm out of town for a month. Dammit!

Blog girls, thanks for the reminder. Everybody else, I think there's a donation page on the website so you can send clothes this year -- and come swap with us next year! Yay!

Of course I meant "send clothes" if you are doing the seasonal/annual clean-out-closet thing.

I'm not sure, but if you donate without swapping it might even be a tax write-off.

I would suggest if you have a Cato's clothing store, go there. They have fab clothes and are at a great price.

That's awesome! These need to spread across the country. I always feel so left out when my skinny friends can shop at flea markets and thrift shops because everything there is a size 8 or less.

I can't wait for this. I lost a lot of weight and bought waay too many clothing for each size, so I've got a lot of almost new clothes to give. I'm looking forward to this weekend.

I got 3 shirts, a dress, a business blazer and a winter coat for $30 bucks. It was great-if a little crowded. There were so many women in the dressing area that some were just whipping off thier clothes right out in the open to try stuff on!
Luckily the one guy I saw there had so many clothes his wife was making him hold that i don't think he could get a peep over the pile;0)
I had fun, though I wish the clothing could have been just a little more organized. But there was so much there and so many women, there was no way it would have stayed organized even if they tried.
Because I've been losing wieght (lost 165lbs so far), I'm not sure if I'll be in these sizes next year, it was hard finding clothes below size 18-- but I sure had fun this year.

peace,
Tara

OMG I can't believe I missed this! I've been looking for some size 42 jeans for like forever! Unfortunately, I'm homebound right now as I'm too fat to fit into the van. I'm working on getting a lift so I can be lifted into a flatbed truck, but it's moving time and all. Damn. I guess this mumu will have to do me for another year.
