Buffy Unaired Pilot Episode:Part 1

For those who care to watch, at the 3 minutes 25 seconds mark, chubby Willow makes her appearance. Poor chubby Willow Rosenberg never had a chance to be the Jewish fat best friend she was meant to be...

For those of you who have never seen any episodes of Buffy, don't be scared away by this. This is the unaired pilot. I suggest renting or buying the seasons on DVD, and getting to know the girl and her friends who saved the world. A lot.

I have seen every Buffy episode, and I have never seen this. Thank you!

You should write more about Buffy.

I've never watched Buffy but I did watch 90210 and from this it looks like she went to West Beverly too.

TV Fat Best Friends:

Ethel on the "I Love Lucy" show -- the original.

Olive (Kathy Najamy) on "Veronica's Closet"

The non-Sarah-Jessica-Parker character on "Square Pegs."

Laverne on "Laverne & Shirley" (though she was the real star in my mind)

There aren't a lot of FBFs on TV partly because there aren't a lot of TV shows with an actual plot right now.

I have both been and had FBFs and I think that the relationship is a drag from both sides. If you are the FBF you are always trying to be helpful and funny and interesting. If you have a FBF, she can be kind of clingy and needy sometimes and you always feel like she's not being her real self.

Did you know that Ethel on I Love Lucy wasn't actually fatter then Lucy, they just placed her in tighter fitting clothes to give her that appearance ;)

hands down alyson hannigan is the better willow ;)

It's amazing that they even picked this show up. That pilot looks like something I could filmed.

Aside from Season Seven (for which Joss Whedon should be made to die of many spider bites), Buffy is a great show.

Oh! I heart old-school Buffy. It's interesting to see how the show was originally casted. Thanks for sharing it.

e.b. what was it about S7 you particularly hated? Not that I don't have S7 grievances of my own. Just curious.

I too love Buffy, agree Riff Regan wasn't the best person for Willow, and dislike season 7. Who do I dislike season 7? It got away from why we watch the show--the characters and too much into the mini-slayers and plot. It's not a plot based show and the characters where following the plots needs as opposed to what all the other 6 seasons did: have the plot follow the character's needs.

I'm always amazed at how much sarah michelle geller changed in that series. She's not ever fat, but she's definitely larger at the beginning than at the end.

I am ashamed to say at age 44 I was an avid Buffy fan. I would not even take my mother's phone calls. I would just listen to her demand that I pick up the phone and that she "knew I was watching Buffy and please pick up the phone immediately" My husband said I was weird and I must think I am 14 instead of 44. I have them all on DVD....love SPIKE! Fat Willow is not all that fat. I was a size 28...now a 12. HARD WORK and lots of deprivation! Anyway loved your buffy post and loved you post on the inner thigh rub....I went thru many pair of pants that way....hurts bad when they start to rub your thighs raw
