Drivers LIEcense

I recently had to go to the DMV to get a new drivers license because I lost mine. That meant I had to take a new picture which sort of bummed me out because I liked my old picture. It made me look pretty and not so fat.

My old drivers license said I weighed 135. Obviously, this was a lie. So, while I was filling out the form to obtain a new license, I thought that I would be more honest and truthful, so I put 150.

Then I started to think, "What if something happened to me and they used my ID to describe me?" I could see it now on the 10 o'clock news about how this girl was missing, 5'7", brown hair, 150lbs... and no one would think it was me. Sadly, I didn't erase the 150 and took my chances that if they did use my ID, I'd never be found.

Last night I asked Lindsey how much her drivers license said she weighed. She said, and I quote, "150 pounds of course" and I replied, "Me too!"

So, Lindsey and I now weigh the same and we think we're hot shit.

While there are lots of things I've learned to like about Massachusetts since moving here from California, one of the nicest is...they don't put your weight on your driver's license here. Now that's just downright civilized.

So..My DL has said 180 since I was 16. That was a lie then, and was until last November when I renewed my license. At 360 I was saying I was 180, how obvious was that! ha! My license now says 200, much closer to reality! ha!

I think everyone lies about the weight on their drivers license. a few years ago, I had this friend who worked the door at a bar. I used to sit by the front door and talk to him because he was entertaining AND would always ask if you could check IDs while he went to the Men's room. He always brought me a free beer or two for doing him this small favour.
I loved doing this because the suburban girls would come in and show me their IDs. I would look at the ID, look at them, look at the ID again and say "This ID says you weigh 110 lbs. Are you sure this is you?".
I know it sounds mean, but in reality these girls were probably 130-140 lbs.

I've actually always put my real weight on my driver's license. I think the reason is because I've always been kind of proud of my weight - nobody thinks I'm as heavy as I am, and for some reason that makes me feel not so fat.

My license right now says 211, which is a lie, I'm 245ish, but the things last for 8 years and I got mine before the Freshman Forty.

Freshman Forty? Is it really 40 pounds that girls put on during their first year in college? The last time I heard the phrase it was the Freshman 15. When I started college in 1984, it was the Freshman 10 and I dutifully put it on.

Thanks for the great blog. I discovered it through a combination of the Big Fat Deal blog and insomnia. But I keep commenting on different stuff and I need to sleep. At least it was an hour well spent. I've linked you on my blog.

I actually put my REAL weight on my license (well, okay, it's only a permit, but whatever). I want it there . . . so someday, when I've lost weight, I can compare the two. Maybe it sounds crazy, but it was a big step for me - for once, I was holding myself accountable. It doesn't happen very often so I have to rejoice in it!

What's your real weight?

180 is the fat girl weight most of us put on there. I know because I once conducted a survey with me and my fat friends.

My sister and I went to the DMV together to get our licenses, and afterwards she wouldn't speak to me. Not because I had lied about my weight--she did too--but because she lied by 50 pounds and I lied by 100 pounds, so on our licenses I weighed less than her!
