Fat Nose

I was with Laura the other day watching television. Some random commercial came on and she commented on how pretty the girl was. I didn't really think she was pretty. To me, her nose was too big. But, I couldn't say that in front of Laura, because Laura has issues with her nose. It's not an ugly nose, but it's on the larger side. I almost said something, but didn't because I thought it would make her feel uncomfortable.

Not ten minutes had passed when Laura commented that a certain actress was a "fat ass". WHA? Did she say that in front of me? Yes. And thus, I'm writing this post.

It has come to my attention that there really is no taboo on fatness. Heaven forbid I comment on a girls ugly nose and make Laura feel badly, but it's perfectly okay for the "f" word to be thrown around like it's the word telephone. Really. Come on now.

The other day in my office, my bosses brother, who is one of the most obnoxious men I have ever met was having a conversation with another guy in my office. I call him Hollywood, because, well, he used to work in the business and still acts like it. Annoying if you ask me. Anyway, Hollywood and Boss' Brother were talking, neither one of them being very large, when all of a sudden they started to talk about fat chicks...in front of me.

They discussed how they wouldn't date a fatty. They talked about what size was too big (anything over a size 8), etc. This went on for a good 20 minutes, all in front of me. What is going on here?

I'd like to know why people feel that it's okay to talk about being fat in front of fat people!? I feel like I'm a really considerate person, but the next time Laura comments on a girls fatness...I'm heading to her nose.

It'll go something like this:

Laura: She'd be cute if she lost 15lbs
Me: At least her nose isn't big...she has that going for her.

Teach her to call someone fat in front of a fat girl!

Whatever. Hollywood and the bosses bro should be slapped around. If I EVER hear someone dissing on a person for their weight they hear about it. How repulsive some men (and women) can be!

Be sure to grab Laura by her big nose next time she opens her equally large mouth.

I'll bet they have really tiny weenies. That's why they can only handle a tiny girl.

The truth... EVERYONE is vain and self-concious in the world. It doesn't matter who you are, what you look like and how you act... deep down nobody is happy with the way they look. I mean how else would plastic surgery be a billion dollar industry.

And I'd like to say something... when ever I'm feeling unusually self-conscious about my weight I just think... I can drink that skinny fool under the table! It usually does the trick for me.

Do you remember the days when 6 was considered the perfect size? Not that I was a 6, but I was a hell of a lot closer to 6 than to 0.

In this week's US Magazine, Liev Shreiber talks about how he lost his virginity to a girl who weighed about 100 pounds more than him. On the one hand, I was impressed that he not only lost his virginity to a less-than-perfect girl, but also that he admitted it to the world. On the other hand, I consider he is thanking his lucky stars that he got famous so he can date skinny girls like girlfriend Naomi Watts. I'm torn on this issue.

I always wonder that... my friends talk to me about fat people and make fun of fat people in front of me.... and I'm like "Dude, I am fat."

Well, I look at it this way:
Laura is trying to feel better about her nose by commenting that a girl on TV with a big nose is pretty.
It also seems tho, that she's a little clueless about the fat thing.
I know, sometimes to make myself feel better about my size, Ill comment on another person who is larger and looks great. I really feel that way, tho or I don't say it.
Everyone is self conscious about something unless they're complete narcissists....and then they're flawed that way!
I think next time she makes a comment about another person being large, it opens the floor for you to make her aware that she isn't perfect either.

Well the general acceptance of fat comments v nose comments can probably because in most cases fatness is a choice. Can't really do anything about your nose, besides surgery. Of course, your friend could just be less considerate than you. Your assuming her nose is ugly by choosing not to say anything. I mean wouldn't you rather have her say what she really thinks to your face then when you're not around?
